A Downtown Tampa Engagement Session at The Edition Hotel

I recently had the opportunity to photograph an engagement session in downtown Tampa, starting at The Edition Hotel. This session was all about capturing real, unscripted moments against the backdrop of the city. No stiff poses, no forced smiles — just a couple enjoying their time together, with Tampa’s energy as the perfect setting.

From walking the streets to taking in the view from the rooftop, and even sharing a spontaneous pizza moment in the hotel hallway, the session felt relaxed and genuine. Here’s a glimpse into why this location worked so well and how we captured the essence of the couple’s connection.

Strolling Through Downtown Tampa: A Natural Setting

We kicked things off with a walk around downtown. There’s something about the crosswalks, the buildings, the people — that creates an atmosphere that feels alive, and it’s in that environment where I think the most authentic moments happen.

My goal is to capture the authentic moments, letting things unfold instead of forcing anything. I think that’s where the best photos come from: when couples are comfortable, when they forget about the camera, and when they just exist in the moment together.

Crosswalk Photos: Real Connection in the City

One of the highlights of the session was capturing the couple as they crossed one of downtown’s busy intersections. It’s simple, but it feels real. No elaborate setups, just the couple walking side by side in the middle of the city.

Pizza in the Hotel Hallway: Embracing the Unscripted

One of my favorite moments from this session didn’t come from the streets or the rooftop, but from a quiet, unscripted pizza break in the hotel hallway. There’s no better fuel for your session then having a quick pizza breaK!

No fancy setup, just a pizza box and a hallway. It was a reminder that the best moments often come when you least expect them — when you let your guard down and just enjoy each other’s company. Sometimes, it’s these little in-between moments that make the most memorable photos.
